Most homeowners have been there before. You weed and feed and water the lawn all season long, but no matter what the method, the lawn never seems to grow in green and healthy. If relying on the garden hose option, the homeowner must bring the hose to a specific spot on the lawn, go back and turn on the water, and wait for the perceived proper amount of water to be administered (under watering /overwatering play a big part here.) The water then needs to be turned off and the process repeated over and over. Then the whole apparatus needs to be rolled up again if storing. If the lawn is expansive, this could be extremely time consuming.
No matter the lawn size, with a timer or controller, there is no need to turn the water on and off between moves. The hose and sprinkler can be moved when the appropriate watering has been completed. The benefit here is obvious.
With an irrigation system, again, the benefits are significant. Simply turning on and off the system when the user feels that enough water has been administered is basically a guessing game at best (the under watering/overwatering issue once again rears its ugly head!)
